The Story behind Talent Junction

A future goal of owning my own business one day had always been at the back of my mind however, that dream often felt like it was still far off, something to pursue years down the line.

For 15 years, I dedicated myself to the field of recruitment, I loved the job – helping people find their dream role – nothing felt better than calling with the news we have an offer. It feels so good.

Spring 2022 I remember I was in London with a group of friends when it was me receiving the news I had just been offered my dream role in London. A big role leading a team at an incredible agency. It felt like everything was finally coming together. With covid out the way London had become so much more accessible for so many given that a lot of the roles were now hybrid. Being based still in Hampshire I had the best of both worlds—an exciting career in the city during the week and the joy of returning to Hampshire to be with my family and friends on the weekends. Life felt perfect.

But sometimes, life has other plans.

12 months into the role my energy started to fade. The early morning commutes became harder, and I began experiencing severe migraines and even blackouts. It was confusing and scary. I couldn’t understand why this was happening I was supposed to be living my best life in my mid-30s. Why was my body suddenly betraying me?

Deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. It wasn’t just normal exhaustion; it felt like something more. How did others manage to juggle intense work, a social life, and long commutes without breaking down?

Life was getting busy again. The world was going back to normal, and businesses had returned to the office – there was more of a demand to be in London in the office meeting clients face to face and as much as this was the bit I loved it was too much to keep up with. I decided to move out of London and secure a recruitment role more locally with another successful well-known agency closer to home the travel had become too much and I just couldn’t keep up.

After several tests and some worrying blood results, I was referred to a specialist and taken for a MRI.

Then came the news I was not prepared to hear: “You have a tumour”. The tumour was causing all my severe migraines. I decided to resign from my job I knew I wouldn’t be able to continue to work whilst everything was happening. I needed to focus on my health.

A few weeks in and the medication was tough, much harder than the symptoms I had been experiencing. I felt like I was losing control of my life, even though the Tumour was benign and not cancerous. The treatment and side effects took a heavy toll.

After a few months amongst the struggle, something changed within me. I realised that despite everything, I still had something to fight for. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go back to a full time role i needed to have the flexibility to allow me time. A chance to rebuild, to redefine what really mattered to me.

I started keeping a daily diary, created a mood board, and focused on manifesting not just healing, but a new beginning. That’s how the vision for Talent Junction was born.

Talent Junction is a service lead consultancy – looking to grow, build and maintain long serving relationships within our community. This life changing experience gave me a vision, I felt a deep need to help others who, like me, felt stuck, lost, or without hope.

I wasn’t sure if I should share what led me on this journey, but I wanted to be open and honest and use my years of experience to support others in finding their dream careers or in finding the courage to leave the corporate world if it no longer served them.

My goal became to empower people to discover their passion and to show them that it’s never too late to start something new.

This experience changed me forever. My perspective on what truly matters shifted completely. Now, I am dedicated to helping others navigate their own journeys, whether it’s finding the strength to leave a corporate job or discovering the inspiration to pursue their own dreams.

Talent Junction isn’t just a business; it’s a way to give hope and guidance to those ready to take control of their future, just as I’ve done with mine.

This is my story, and it’s one I share with you all, a reminder if you are feeling lost, out of control or just like your current role no longer serves you then you have the power within to make change.
